效力皇家隊的旅美投手王建民，相隔2日再度登板中繼，面對旅美左投陳偉殷的前東家金鶯隊，9局上皇家以3比7落後之際上場，建仔面對金鶯中心打線表現不佳，主投1局被敲2安打丟1分，皇家以3比8落敗，建仔連續3場出賽都丟分，自責分率上升至5.06。
皇家此役派出麥德林先發，表現不若先前2場穩定，只投3.2局就遭金鶯猛攻7分，包括強打者C.戴維斯的陽春砲，皇家打完4局就以2比7落後，隨後換上狄隆吉登板中繼，他繳出4.1局無失分、還飆出5K的精采表現，但皇家只在5局下追回1分，建仔9局上在落後4分局面上場。
王建民面對金鶯隊中心打者，先保送第3棒亞當瓊斯，隨後遭C.戴維斯敲出單場第4支安打，接下來面對川波投出暴投，但捕手S.裴瑞茲快速傳三壘夾殺亞當瓊斯成功，不過還是被川波敲出中外野深遠二壘打，送回C.戴維斯，建仔隨後回穩，三振韋特斯，再讓哈帝敲出游擊方向滾地球出局。
王建民投了28個球，18球是好球，配球以拿手沉球與滑球交替運用，雖連續3場登板都掉分，但昨役最快球速飆到94英哩（151.2公里），是本季迄今最快球速。
此外，本季轉戰MLB道奇隊的日籍投手前田健太，持續宰制大聯盟打者，他昨在「打者天堂」洛磯隊主場先發，主投6.1局只被敲出3支安打無失分，飆出8K也送出1次保送，率隊以4比1獲勝，他拿下美職生涯第3勝，連同他之前效力日職廣島隊累積的97勝，達成職棒生涯百勝里程碑。
